🌈3. Role-play – Shaheen and Her Mother (Page 98)

Activity: Shaheen wants to stay in India and continue her studies. Her parents are worried that she may not be able to adjust to life in India. Prepare a conversation in which Shaheen persuades her mother to allow her to stay.
Model Conversation
Shaheen: Mom, I really want to stay in Mumbai and continue my studies here.
Mother: Are you really sure, Shaheen? Living in Mumbai is very different from spending your holidays here.
Shaheen: I understand that, Mom. But I really think I can adjust to life here.
Mother: Why are you so determined to stay in India?
Shaheen: I want to work for children who do not get good educational opportunities. I feel that my life will have more meaning if I stay here.
Mother: But what about your own education?
Shaheen: Please give me a chance. I will join a good college in Mumbai and continue my studies seriously.
Mother: Are you willing to go abroad later for your higher studies?
Shaheen: Yes, Mom. I promise I will. Please allow me to stay here. You won't regret it.
Mother: All right. If you get admission to a good college, you may stay in Mumbai.
Shaheen: Thank you so much, Mom. I promise I will make the best use of this opportunity.
Useful expressions of persuasion: “Please give me a chance,” “I really think…,” “You won't regret it,” “Won't you please consider it?”
🌈4. Project – Action Plan (Page 99)
Activity: Choose one of the problems given in the textbook and prepare an action plan to solve it.
Model Project – Preventing Food Waste Near the Wash Area

Name of the School: ABC Higher Secondary School

Problem Identified: Students dump food waste near the taps. The waste blocks the drainage and causes a bad smell.

Reasons: Lack of awareness, insufficient waste bins and careless disposal of food waste.

Plan Date: 10 June 2026
Completion Date: 30 June 2026

Objectives Resources Strategies Target Date Status
Stop students from throwing food waste near the taps. Posters, students and teachers. Conduct an awareness campaign. 15 June Completed
Provide proper places for waste disposal. Separate waste bins and labels. Install labelled waste bins near the wash area. 20 June Completed
Keep the wash area and drainage clean. Cleaning materials and student volunteers. Organise regular cleaning and monitoring. 25 June Completed
Develop responsible habits among students. Teachers and student leaders. Give regular instructions and reminders. 30 June Completed

Possible Challenges / Difficulties: Some students may continue to throw waste carelessly. Regular monitoring and cooperation from students and teachers will therefore be necessary.

Expected Result: The wash area becomes cleaner, the drainage remains free from blockage, and students develop responsible waste-disposal habits.]
